This week has been cold and dreary, so can I pretend that spring is coming soon with sunny skies and flowers?

Iris Bralette in Front A/Back H and Hellebore Hi-Cut in Style D

Fabrics

Iris Bralette: Cups and cradle are made in Athletic Net from Spandex World.  You can read more about using athletic net for bralettes here.  Back band is power net also from Spandex World.

Hellebore Hi-Cut: Main fabric used is a rayon spandex print from Girl Charlee.  Since rayon stretches out easily, I used a cotton/spandex solid, also from Girl Charlee.

Trims

Iris Bralette: straps, fold over elastic, and 1/2" picot band elastic are dyed by me.  I apparently wasn't thinking things through when I decided to pair red with sky blue and ended up with a Wonder Woman bra.  Or maybe I should say it was intentional?  Anyway, the 1/2" strap elastic is from Sew Sassy.  I've had a few duds in the strap elastic department that stretch out easily, and this one is a winner; style is PE540.  I believe the white fold over elastic was also from Sew Sassy, but its been in my stash for a couple years and lost it's labeling.  The picot elastic is from a bulk order I placed on AliExpress and I'm not overly thrilled with the quality.  Still use-able, but not as nice as I had hoped.

Hellebore Hi-Cut: There are no trims for this particular style.  I'm only pointing it out really to say that some people don't like the tightness of elastic finishes in their underwear, so that is why I provided fabric band and binding options for the Hellebore Hi-Cut.  One of my testers told me that her daughter has sensory issues, and having an elastic-free option was very helpful to her.  Also, if you are starting out making your own undergarments it can be a little overwhelming tracking down all the trims, so a fabric-only option would help there as well.

Style Notes

As much as I love sexy, lacy lingerie, the more sensible and basic styles are what I wear over and over.  This particular bralette has been worn many times already.  The athletic net is very smooth, and clothing glides right over it.  The little holes in the fabric also provide air circulation, which comes in handy in my usually hot and humid environment.

While the fabric band finishes are a little thicker than an elastic finish, they are so soft.  Sometimes I just want a pair of undies that is super soft to relax in, and pairing the fabric bands with some buttery rayon spandex is the perfect solution.
