I'm so happy to share with you my new pattern, Elodie Briefs!

While I love wearing different styles of undies, full-coverage briefs are my favorite these days.  I've nearly worn out almost all the pairs of Daisy Briefs I've made, so I decided it was time to make another brief pattern.
Picture
The Elodie Briefs are a perfect combination of comfort and feminine details.  Basic briefs get a sophisticated upgrade with sheer side panels and lace details.  Style options include lace overlays for both narrow and wide stretch lace trim, and side panels using wide stretch lace trim.  With a comfortable fit, the mid-length rise and full coverage bottom make the Elodie Briefs an everyday staple for your lingerie drawer.

The gusset is longer in front than typical store-bought panties to provide extra protection and comfort. The Elodie Briefs can be sewn in a wide variety of knit fabrics, from cotton/spandex jersey, bamboo and rayon blend jerseys, to athletic knits and stretch lace.

Styles

Style A: Contrast panels
Style B: Contrast panels and narrow stretch lace trim
Style C: Contrast panels and front lace overlay
Style D: Contrast panels in wide lace trim

Sizes

Sizes to fit:
Waist: 26-50” / 66-127cm
Hip: 35-60” / 89-152cm

Skill Level

Adventurous beginner. Instructions are fully illustrated, and pattern includes links for videos on sewing an enclosed gusset and working with lingerie elastics. You only need to know how to sew straight and zig-zag stitches.

Fabrics

Self fabric: Stretch knits with at least 40% stretch. Suggestions: Cotton/spandex jersey, rayon/spandex jersey, bamboo/spandex jersey, stretch mesh, stretch lace.
Contrast fabric: Any of the fabrics listed above. My samples used stretch mesh.
Gusset Lining: cotton jersey. If you don’t have any yardage, a men’s undershirt works well.

Trims

All Styles: 1/4-3/8”/6-9mm plush back elastic, or fold over elastic.
Style B: Stretch lace trim, 1-2”/2.5-5 cm wide.
Styles C & D: Stretch lace trim. See trim chart for minimum width by size.

PDF Pattern

This print-at-home PDF pattern has a fully illustrated 14 page instruction manual, which includes information on printing and assembling the pattern pages (printable on US letter and A4 paper), a size guide, and an elastic lengths chart. The pattern pages include a layers option to print only the sizes you need and a stretch guide for measuring the stretch percentage of fabrics.
The Elodie Briefs pattern can be found in my pattern store.

Stay tuned for individual project pages, where I tell you about the fabrics and trims used for each style, and the lovely tester roundups!

Until next time, Happy Sewing.
